David Esdaile

Los Olivos Taproom Manager

Born and raised in Windsor, England, David and his wife Caroline moved to California in October 1986.

David worked for Monty Roberts, the “Horse Whisperer,” driving Belgian draft horses for just over a year before  workkng for Michael Jackson at Neverland  Ranch for over two years driving Clydesdales as a personal carriage driver. He took over the Solvang Horsedrawn Streetcar--the whole reason for coming to California--from his cousin Gerry Harris.

He owned and operated the streetcar for 14 years while, at the same time, he started working at Firestone Walker Brewery (FWB) as a bartender. He sold the streetcar business and took over the taproom manager position at FWB.  After about seven years there, he wanted to try owning my own business again; I bought a coffee shop in Solvang.  He ran it for just over three years.

When Figueroa Mountain Brewery opened, many FWB customers suggested he manage the taproom. After meeting with Jim D., David  was hired on.

David and Caroline have three great kids, Mickey, Hayley and Stefan and beautiful granddaughter Noelle with her mother Ashley.

Fast Facts

  • I'm the drummer in the Davy Brown Blues Band.
  • I build re-purposed furniture, mainly out of pallets.
  • I love watching (real) football. My favorite team is Arsenal from the U.K.
