Dan Mazur was born and raised in The First State. Proud Delawarean and East Coaster, he’ll gladly tell you about his home state’s single area code (302 for life!) and population of less than 1 million people. Dan attended West Virginia University where he played rugby, studied marketing, and began his career in beer with promotions work for Anheuser-Busch. It was a great job for a freshly minted graduate: corporate credit card, VIP access to bars and sporting events, buying rounds for patrons of Bud Light and Budweiser… What more could a 22 year-old want? Not too long after, Dan transitioned to sales for a local Anheuser-Busch distributor. At the same time Anheuser-Busch was bought out by In-Bev, Dan began to shift his focus to craft beer and developed a passion. He drank it, brewed it, and learned everything he could about it. He left Anheuser-Busch to curate a beverage program at a new local gastro pub. At one of the pub’s monthly beer dinners, he met the owner of Dog Fish Head, Sam Calagione, and took the opportunity to join the DFH brew pub team. At DFH, Dan worked in customer service and was lucky enough to dabble a bit in the brewing process. During that time, his wife was accepted to a doctoral program at UCSB and they made the jump to the West Coast. Luckily, Fig was hiring and took Dan on board. Since joining the Fig Family, Dan hasn’t looked back.
